This is also the website for Unit #3 of the American Legion Auxiliary, Squadron #3 of the Sons of the American Legion, and the American Legion Post #3 War Museum.  

The American Legion is the nation’s largest veterans organization, supporting present active duty military personnel along with its commitment to all veterans and their families.

American Legion, Post #3 --- Meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM at Post #3 (Meeting preceded by a meal). Post #3 Commander is John Collins.

Post #3 War Museum

The War Museum displays include the history of military bases in Greenville and South Carolina. There are pictures of leaders and local people that were involved with the military conflicts of American history. Displays include actual war artifacts from the following eras: The American Civil War, The Spanish/American War, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the Persian Gulf. A featured exhibit of the museum is one honoring Major Rudolf Anderson of Greenville. Major Anderson was shot down in October of 1962 while flying his U-2 plane over Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery with full military honors and a memorial to him is located in nearby Cleveland Park. The War Museum is located at the corner of North Main Street and Academy Street in Greenville, SC.

Saturdays 10:00-5:00
Sundays     1:00-5:00
Open to the public. Admission is free.

School groups are welcome and encouraged to take a guided tour of the War Museum. Tours can be arranged for elementary, middle school, high school and college level classes. To schedule a tour of the War Museum please call Bob Anderson at 864-268-1951.
