World War I Education Day

Saturday, April 29, 2006

The War Museum sponsored its first World War I Education Day on April 29th. Exhibits included 30th Division uniforms, shell fragments, books, patches, helmets, newspapers, photos, buttons, maps, personal gear, weapons, and relics. There were special exhibits on Camp Sevier (Greenville) and Camp Wadsworth (Spartanburg). Living historians portrayed doughboys and a Salvation Army volunteer. The Greenville County Public Library provided information on how to trace your ancestors military records. The American Legion was founded in 1919 by veterans of World War I.

The War Museum currently has several permanent World War I exhibits on display. Please contact the museum if you are doing research on World War I veterans or units. The War Museum is actively seeking photos, uniforms, artifacts, etc. related to the 27th, 30th, and 81st Divisions. See more . . .
